# Can aircraft type tell you how seats are grouped?

Aircraft type does not fix economy seat grouping. Compare seats abreast across publishable layouts and trace every finding to its source pages.

An aircraft type is useful for identifying the airframe. It is not a complete
description of the seats inside it. The operator chooses the cabin layout, and
that choice includes how economy seats are grouped across each row.

Aircraft type does not determine economy seat grouping. Across 454 publishable layouts, 453 contain an economy cabin. Across its 38 published layouts, the Boeing 777-300ER records fixed economy rows at both 9 and 10 seats across. The operator and the layout, not the airframe label, supply the row-grouping fact.

**Caution:** **Methods note.** The gate for this article is 100% abreast coverage: the abreast field is present on 977 of 977 cabin records across 454 of 454 publishable layouts. The economy comparison covers 453 layouts. The explicit exclusion is the Singapore Airlines Airbus A350-900 67J / 94W layout. It is the corpus's premium-only layout because its recorded cabins are business and premium economy, with no economy cabin. Fixed endpoints use only economy records whose abreast value is one unqualified grouping. Records marked as variable remain in each aircraft's layout count but do not set an endpoint.

## Does seats abreast tell a distribution lead the seat width?

The corpus does not publish seat width in inches or centimetres, and this
article does not derive one from grouping. That derivation would need cabin
diameter and installation details that are outside the published evidence.

The safe claim is narrower and commercially useful: the same aircraft type can
